ABOUT COACHING

Thrive  helps students reach their full potential through a strategic coaching process providing essential tools that build confidence and necessary skills for success in life.   The thrive approach is routed in Carol Dweck's "Growth Mindset" theory and synthesized with a one-on-one in person or online weekly session.  The coaching process builds routines and habits that develop executive function skills with the goal of  students maintaining success independently.

Colleen Shaw has a Masters in Education and is a trained executive function skills coach.  After spending 10 years growing a coaching business in Boston, MA and teaching  6th grade in a special education inclusion classroom, Colleen is thrilled to be moving back to her hometown of Palm Harbor, FL.  with her husband and three children. In  her spare time Colleen loves doing Yoga, baking, spending time outside in nature and visiting with friends and family.

Colleen began executive function skill coaching as a way to supplement her teaching job.  As she became more knowledgeable and began to research executive functioning, there were so many "light bulb moments". It was clear what so many of her loved ones and sixth grade students were struggling with and now there were tangible solutions and a clear path to help.  Colleen quickly immersed herself in research and strategies for developing executive functioning and is now proud to share her wealth of knowledge with the community of Tampa Bay and continue to fullfill her life's passion to help students achieve success.

Routines, Growth Mindset, Data

Thrive executive function skill coaching utilizes a unique approach that blends Carol Dweck's "Growth Mindset" theory with a more typical coaching model. Colleen will help move students along a continuum through small strategic steps that track and assess student's mindset throughout the coaching process. The goal is to help students successfully gain independence, through maintaining awareness and actively taking small strategic steps to develop priority executive function skills.

Customer service is a top value at thrive. Colleen will communicate with parents 48 hours after any weekly scheduled session. Each communication will include a summary of the progress made after each session, any scheduled check-ins as well as goals achieved that week.
